Singtel 3GS Launch

The launch of the iPhone 3GS has been looked forward to by many people worldwide with eager anticipation, and in Singapore the wait ended on July 10th 2009 .... not so much with a bang, but with more of a dull pop ....

.... as Singtel's laughable launch party got underway. Seriously, who ever planned the event should be looking for a new job. No-one in the crowd cared about the theatrics, all they wanted was their iphone. But at 8.00pm (2 hours plus after people had been queueing) limp fire work displays were followed by a man I can only assume was the CEO holding up (and fumbling) the first iPhone to be on sale to the public like an olympic medal. It was as dramatic as watching wet paint dry, and for those that noticed, the iPhone didn't even display the right time .... whoooops .... how embarrassing.

The queue was huge, and the number of sales points not enough. The result of that botch job (no lessons learned from the previous launch parties obviously) was at least a 6 hour waiting time. Singtel of course tried to keep the people entertained, so you got to give them 1 out of 10 for effort.

Still I'm sure as people walked away with the brand new iPhone 3GS in their hands, all was forgiven, or at least temporarily forgotten as they rushed home to play with (and no doubt jailbreak) their new toys.
